Smart Incubators for NICU (Neonatal Insensitive Care Unit)

SensiNest is a pilot project that there-AI scientists and clinicians working together to translate this smart incubator project into clinical reality. SensiNest is the first-ever smart NICU incubator equipped with advanced AI algorithms providing prediction and early alarm systems along with newly embedded sensors including biodynamic light, oxygenation, noise, NIRS, and thermal/RGB camera-embedded to assist in neonatal care.

Current Neonatal incubators play a crucial role in providing a controlled physical environment for infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), ensuring their body temperature and humidity are maintained. Infants in NICUs require continuous attention from healthcare providers and a controlled environment outside the maternal womb. While existing incubators provide physical shelter, they fall short of providing more advanced support to deliver personalized and prompt care that sustains (1) constant monitoring of tissue oxygenation, (2) the sleep cycle, and (3) the babies’ circadian rhythm. Our SensiNest provide all these supports.
