iLIGN
Artificial Intelligence Driven Pre-Screening System for Eye Diseases
iLIGN is a rapid, non-invasive, accurate, and low-cost application (app) for smartphones to perform automated pre-screening of ocular misalignment by anyone without specialty expertise or training (i.e., consumer, parents, school personnel, teachers). iLIGN is illustrated in below figure in three steps. We are using cutting-edge AI algorithms to define ocular misalignment. Next generation of iLIGN will be detecting other eye diseases.
Once it is launched, we expect that iLIGN will be a paradigm shift in pre-screening, and early diagnosis of vision threatening diseases including strabismus, a frequent cause of preventable vision loss in children and a significant cause of morbidity in adults. Screening patients is the most labor intensive and fundamental step in the diagnosis of strabismus since screening mainly depends on both a trained examiner and facilities, a limiting factor for many social demographics. Likewise, many adults, especially those in developing nations, have limited access to eye care, and considering the current (and future) pandemic(s) where healthcare is transitioning to remote models, we expect this innovative platform to revolutionize patient management through empowering parents, providers, and the patient in their own care and we anticipate it to become the first step in the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of this blinding condition.
iLIGN recognizes the paramount importance of pre-screening and diagnosis for children at any age and adults who are also significantly impacted by new onset or undiagnosed strabismus. We are working on iLIGN to work in various mobile phones and conditions, particularly for third world countries where specialists are difficult to reach.
